Drawing on a life time's experience of working with individuals and families with a wide range of issues, and his close association with Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg as they developed and enhanced the Solution Focused approach, Brian will share how he has blended aspects of Solution Focused Therapy with the earlier work of John Weakland and colleagues mixed in with various other influences and garnished with humour, the absurd and the unpredictable.

A collaborative venture between the University of Cumbria (Carlisle Campus) and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The module facilitators are currently Janine Ross (SFBT Practitioner within Primary Mental Health Care), Keith Bickley (Family Therapist and SFBT Practitioner), Fred Ruddick (MA in Counselling), Janet Major (MA in Counselling).

| RATING: | The module can now be undertaken at both level 2 (Diploma) and level 3 (Degree) based upon suitable entry qualifications. |
| DURATION: | Over 2 academic terms (usually 1 day per month). |
| DATES: | The module will run again commencing January 2010. |
| ASSESSMENT: | The module is assessed (analysis of an audio-taped SFBT session) and carries 15 credits at level 2 or 3. |
| DELIVERY: | Practice forms a substantial part of the study days which incorporate group based supervision sessions. |
| REQUIREMENTS: | 120 level 1 credits (for those wishing to gain credits) Evidence of recent study at level 2 or completion of a study skills course. 1 year working with people who have mental health problems |
